FAQs

Why are you running for Churchlands?

I’m running because I have a deep attachment to Churchlands having attended high school and ECU Churchlands as well as living here.

Churchlands deserves an independent voice that’s 100% focused on the needs of our community, not party politics. For too long, major parties have dominated decision-making, but I believe we need a fresh, local approach that puts people over party. I’ve seen firsthand as a local councillor that when you listen to the community and act with integrity, you can make a meaningful difference.

What makes you qualified to represent Churchlands?

My experience as a local councillor has given me a deep understanding of the issues that matter to our community. I’ve been on the front lines, advocating for better urban planning, standing up for local residents, and navigating the complexities of government processes. I bring experience in listening, problem-solving, and fighting for the needs of our community. Most importantly, I am 100% focused on Churchlands — no party bosses, no corporate backers, just community-first representation.

How does your experience compare to that of the major party candidates?

The major party candidates in this election have notable careers, and I respect their work. But there’s a big difference between public profile and public service. I’m not here to climb a political ladder or build a media career. My focus is on Churchlands — every day, every decision. Unlike party candidates, I’m free to represent the community’s interests, not the interests of political backers or corporate sponsors.

Have you previously been a member of a political party?

I was previously a member of the Greens out of concern for climate and future generations. But, like many people, as a sensible and grounded person I became frustrated with party politics that increasingly ignored what our community wants and, at a federal level, the failure to take a constructive approach to solving the housing crisis.  WA has a proud history of successful independent candidates who have left political parties to better represent their communities. As an independent, my priority is clear: to genuinely represent the people of Churchlands without fear or favour.

How will running as an independent help the people of Churchlands?

As an independent, I have one stakeholder — the people of Churchlands. Unlike party candidates, I’m not bound by party platforms or deals made behind closed doors. I can focus solely on what’s best for our community. I’ve seen how people are tired of the party system that puts politics ahead of people. That’s why I’m running — to provide independent, people-first leadership that delivers real results for Churchlands.
